Alltagspraktisch, reisetauglich, ehrliches Fahrverhalten, preiswert – es fällt nicht schwer, demOpel Combo Life das Prädikat Multitalent umzuhängen. Aber funktioniert das auch als Elektro-Version? Erster Spoiler vorab: unbedingt. Nur eben ein bisschen anders und mit einem kleinen Unterschied. Aber der Reihe nach.
Zunächst klären wir, wie der Elektro-Combo fährt: Ein Tritt aufs Fahrpedal und der Hochdachkombi surrt los, fühlt sich dabei aber fast etwas behäbig an, was ausschließlich am eingelegten "Eco"-Fahrprogramm liegt. Je nach Modus konfrontiert der 136 PS starke Elektromotor die Vorderachse nicht mit seiner vollen Leistung, was dazu führt, dass der Combo-e im Eco-Modus butterweich unten raus beschleunigt. Stellt man auf "Normal", schiebt sich der Familien-Kombi deutlich energischer nach vorne. Der typische "Elektro-Bumms" steht erst im Power-Modus zur Verfügung. Dann lässt die E-Maschine ihre 136 PS und 260 Nm Drehmoment ungezügelt frei. Und die wirken aus dem Stand eben auch im je nach Ausführung zwischen 1,67 und 1,74 Tonnen schweren Familienvan recht ordentlich auf die Sinne – vor allem beim zügigen Ampelstart.
Opel
Der typische "Bumms", den man vom Elektro-Auto erwartet, macht sich beim Combo-e Life erst im Power-Modus so richtig bemerkbar.
Der Standard-Sprint gelingt laut Hersteller variantenabhängig in 11,2 Sekunden. Wer dramatisch schneller sein will, schaut allerdings schnell in die Röhre, da der Combo-e Life bei 135 km/h elektronisch abregelt.
Rekuperation, Batterie und Reichweite
Und das Bremsgefühl? Das ist bei regenerativen Bremssystemen ja immer so eine Sache. Wie klappt der Übergang vom rekuperieren in die manuelle Bremse? Ganz gut. Der Bremsvorgang ist relativ wattig dosierbar. Eines hochsensiblen Fahrer-Füßchens bedarf es also nicht, wenn du am Kurveneingang treffend verzögern willst. Wer sich allerdings im Stop-and-Go durch den Verkehr kämpft, dem bleibt – trotz jeden Feingefühls beim Anbremsen – der eine oder andere typische Ruckler auch im Elektro-Combo nicht erspart.
Opel
Die 50-kWh-Batterie bunkert Energie für maximal 280 Kilometer Reichweite (WLTP). Das reicht locker für den Familienausflug ins Grüne, über die Reisetauglichkeit lässt sich streiten.
Die gewonnene Energie speist das System – zwei verschiedene Rekuperationsstufen stehen während der Fahrt zur Wahl – zurück in eine 50-kWh-Batterie-Einheit. Sie speichert genügend Saft für maximal 280 Kilometer Reichweite (WLTP).
Fernfahrern gibt Letzteres sicher zu denken. Schließlich hat nicht jeder Lust und Nerven, die Reise in die Ferne übermäßig häufig für Ladepausen zu unterbrechen. An einer DC-Ladesäule schafft der Combo-e Life maximal 100 kW und ist laut Hersteller in 30 Minuten wieder bei 80 Prozent. Die Werte kennen wir auch von den anderen Stellantis-Modellen, die auf der CMP-Plattform des Konzern aufbauen. Über den bei uns serienmäßigen dreiphasigen 11-kW-On-Board-Charger vergehen fünf Stunden und fünf Minuten für einen kompletten Ladezyklus.
Niedriger Fahrzeug-Schwerpunkt
Opel
Opel verbaut die Batterie am Fahrzeugboden. Das spart Platz, beschert dem Auto einen tiefen Schwerpunkt, eine ausgeglichene Gewichtsverteilung und eine sattere Straßenlage.
Die Lithium-Ionen-Batterie verbaut Opel im Unterboden des Autos. In erster Linie spart das Platz, so dass der Elektro-Combo in Sachen Raumangebot – dazu später mehr – nichts einbüßt. Zudem sorgt der tief platzierte Akku für einen niedrigen Fahrzeug-Schwerpunkt und eine ausgeglichene Gewichtsverteilung. So liegt der Familienvan merklich satter auf dem Asphalt.
Auch den Komfort haben die Opel-Ingenieure gut hinbekommen: Unebenheiten auf der Landstraße federt der E-Combo gekonnt weg, bei zügigeren Kurvenfahrten bleibt er trotzdem auffallend stabil. Vor allem die Lenkung dürfte aber gerne etwas direkter agieren. Wer's auf Lastwechsel anlegt, sieht sich mit mäßigem Aufschaukeln konfrontiert, was in dieser Fahrzeugkategorie völlig in Ordnung gut jederzeit gut beherrschbar ist.
Haufenweise Platz und Stauraum
Wer mit Kind und Kegel reist, will ja oft allen möglichen "Krimskrams" mit an Bord haben. Im Opel Combo kein Problem. Hier noch ein Staufach, dort nochmal eine Ablage – wer Trinkflasche, Pampers, Kuscheltier und Co. umherkutschiert und Ordnung wahren will, wird schnell warm mit dem Elektro-Opel. Optional hängen die Rüsselsheimer als Sahnestück eine 36 Liter fassende Box oberhalb der Gepäckraum-Abdeckung ans Dach.

Um Trinkflasche, Kuscheltiere und Co. ordentlich zu verstauen, hängt Opel eine optionale 36-Liter-Box oberhalb der Gepäckraum-Abdeckung an den Dachhimmel.
Und überhaupt glänzt der Familienkombi in puncto Raumangebot: Auf 597 bis 2.126 Liter beziffert der Hersteller das Kofferraumvolumen des Combo-e Life. Die drei Rücksitze – jeweils mit Isofix-Halterungen gerüstet – sind mit einfachen Handgriffen ausbau- und umklappbar. Wem das nicht reicht, der findet in der Preisliste auch noch ein XL-Modell mit 850 bis 2.693 Liter Fassungsvermögen. Der Combo-e Life wächst dann von 4,40 auf 4,75 Meter Länge an, kriegt zwei zusätzliche Sitzplätze im Fond und bietet somit Platz für zwei zusätzliche Passagiere.
Cockpit und Ausstattung
Es überrascht schon fast, dass die erstaunlichen Untiefen des verschließbaren Fachs in der Mittelkonsole und der induktiven Smartphone-Ablage nicht ganz ausreichen, um nochmal ein Kind unterzubringen. Womit wir vorne im Cockpit wären. Was dort neben der hervorragenden Fahrer-Übersicht sofort auffällt ist die weite Plastiklandschaft – optisch erwartungsgemäß schlicht, haptisch dafür aber sehr robust anmutend. Die kommt auch mit ungestümen Zeitgenossen an Bord klar.
Opel
Der Combo-e Life überzeugt mit einem aufgeräumten Cockpit. Die Kunden dürfen sich auf ein volldigitales Kombiinstrument freuen.
Rund um die leicht erreichbaren Bedienelemente unter dem acht Zoll großen Infotainment-Touchscreen mit Navi, Energiefluss-Grafik und Co. wirkt alles aufgeräumt. Einzig in Sachen Gangwahl – sie erfolgt beim konventionellen Modell noch über einen Drehsteller – muss man kurz suchen. Die Auswahl von P, R, N, D und B (für stärkere Rekuperation) erfolgt jetzt, über den gleichen simplen Kippschalter, den Opel zum Beispiel auch im Zafira-e verbaut. Den Drehregler gibt's jetzt für das optionale adaptive Traktionssystem, das neben der ESP-Deaktivierung auch Einstellungen für Schnee und Matsch und den Berganfahr-Assistent kennt.
Opel
Auf Wunsch gibt es den Combo-e Life mit adaptivem Traktionssystem. Neben der ESP-Deaktivierung bietet es auch Einstellungen für besseres Fahrverhalten auf Schnee, Matsch und Sand sowie einen Berganfahr-Assistent.
Im Gegensatz zum Elektro-Zafira, der Geschwindigkeit, Ladestand und Leistungsstatus noch per analoger Nadel mitteilt, sitzt im Combo-e Life ein volldigitales Kombiinstrument hinter dem Lenkrad. Das gehört sich auch so, passen die digitalen Anzeigen doch viel besser zu einem Familienvan mit E-Antrieb. Gegen Aufpreis leuchtet zudem ein Head-Up-Display auf. Das System projiziert dann Infos wie Geschwindigkeit, erkannte Verkehrszeichen und Daten des Spurhalte-Assistenten gut lesbar auf eine ausklappbare Zusatzscheibe im Blickfeld des Fahrers.
Von oben erleuchtet uns der Testwagen mit dem optionalen Panoramadach des Combo. Durch die LEDs an seiner mittig durchgezogenen Dachgalerie wirkt das Interieur noch heimeliger. Was dieses Feature neben der schönen Aussicht für Fahrgäste in Reihe zwei noch beinhaltet? Weiteren Stauraum, denn die Galerie dient zusätzlich als Ablagefach.

Mittig teilt eine Galerie das Dachfenster. Die angebrachten LED-Leuchten sorgen bei Nacht für heimeliges Ambiente, außerdem dient die Galerie als zusätzliches Ablagefach.
38.100 Euro Einstiegspreis
In puncto Assistenzsysteme stattet Opel den Combo-e Life üppig aus. Die Standard-Features reichen vom Kollissionswarner mit automatischer Bremsung und Fußgängererkennung über Berganfahr- sowie Spurhalteassistent, Verkehrsschild- und Müdigkeitserkennung bis hin zum Abstandstempomat. Klimaanlage und Wärmeschutzverglasung sind ebenso inbegriffen. Das Standard-Modell startet bei 38.100 Euro. Je nach vordefinierter Ausstattungslinie (Edition, Elegance und Ultimate) ist man ab 39.850 Euro, 40.700 Euro. oder 42.550 Euro dabei. Für die XL-Version (42.400 Euro) steht nur Elegance zur Wahl. Na sicher. Praktisch, bequem und ein emissionsloser Alltagsheld – was will man mehr?
Eher nicht. Für mich wäre das auch ein Reiseauto und die Ladepausen spare ich mir.
Fazit
Wie sein konventioneller Bruder ist der Opel Combo-e Life in Sachen Alltags- und Familientauglichkeit ein Multitalent vor dem Herrn. Zugegeben, das hätte man auch nicht anders erwartet.
Aber kann er auch Reise? Theoretisch schon. Die 280 WLTP-Kilometer sind im Alltag illusorisch, wer auf Fernreise ist, muss früher an die Ladesäule. Die stehen mit Kindern oder Haustieren an Bord eh regelmäßig an und lassen sich deshalb eigentlich ganz gut mit den Ladepausen verbinden. Wer auf die Zwangspausen verzichten will, reist mit dem Verbrenner ein gutes Stück unabhängiger. Das muss am Ende aber jeder selbst entscheiden.

In 1929, Opel became a public limited company, known as Aktiengesellschaft, or AG, in German. General Motors acquired a majority stake in the organization later on that year, and in 1931 assumed complete control. Today, Adam Opel AG is a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Motors Company.
